What we need to know about you:
We
cannot accommodate those with special dietary needs
unless, we are forewarned.
All food, save what we grow here, has to be purchased
before a course begins, in local towns. Advance notice
is essential. Regarding your own work, it is helpful
to know what you want from a course and to see what
your work is like. Please bring examples of work, originals
or photos, and sketchbooks, if you can.
Subjects for painting:This is a very
small holding but has varied terrain within a compact
area. The river cuts through the holding and when low
is easily accessible. On either side are woods and two
wild fields. The garden and buildings present close
views while from the garden and studios, you have landscapes
of wooded hills and fields. Two ponds for wildlife also
give still water for painting reflections. In the yard,
there are old walls, sheds, heaps of wood with flowers
and weeds growing through them, and, of course, chickens
and one or two cats.
The studios contain props for still life. If you want
to leave the mill land, you must ask the farmer to avoid
any problems eg a bull.
